Tattoo Care

Every tattoo gets under the skin, every tattoo tells a story. In order to preserve the work of art for as long as possible, the correct healing and care of the tattoo is essential - because every new tattoo is a wound and therefore work for the skin.

The faster the tattoo wound is closed…

...the lower the risk of infection from the outside

...the less wound cleaning and flushing takes place

...the more color particles can remain in the skin.

A support of the wound healing leads to a faster closure of the wound and thus to a better tattoo result and more intense colors.

Tips during the healing phase:

  • It is normal for the tattoo to be itchy during the healing period. Please do not scratch, otherwise there is a risk that scars will form and the tattoo will become blotchy.
  • With sufficient treatment, i.e. applying cream 3-4 times a day, a crust does not normally form on the wound. If a crust has formed, you should not peel it off. It is better to continue applying cream regularly until the scab comes off by itself, otherwise there is a risk of scraping off parts of the tattoo color.
  • The fresh tattoo heals best if enough air can get to the wound. Therefore, you should wear airy clothing and avoid friction. We also recommend products that have a breathable ointment film, such as Bepanthen® Wound and Healing Ointment.
  • Support your body in healing wounds with a balanced diet, enough fluids (approx. 1.5 to 2 liters per day; no alcohol if possible) and enough sleep.
